MAASAI MOMENTS
Young photographer, Riley Graham, captured a
collection of stunning images in a small Maasai village in
Africa, which are featured in the December/January edition of WEM
Magazine. The tribe consists of around one hundred men, women
and children, who live near the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater in
Tanzania.
He says: 'I had about 20 minutes to document the village
as best as I could. The Maasai began with a tribal dance and
proceeded to show me and my family around their living and working
quarters. Their collection of beads and beaded jewellery was
vast and astonishing. The visit to the Maasai village really
allowed me to delve into a culture unlike any I had ever seen
before.'
An image by Riley Graham, Mannequin Social Hour, won
the CIWEM Young Environmental Photographer of the Year Under 16
category. A curated exhibition of the winning, runner-up and
highly commended images will be displayed at the Environmental
Photographer of the Year 2011 Exhibition at SW1 Gallery, 12
Cardinal Walk, London on 6-17 December 2011.
