The Future of Cities 2012: Investment for Urban Growth
Cities are the engines of economic growth, but what do they need
to do to secure and maintain this growth over the long term?
This conference will ask how cities can attract investment for
their development and what innovative financing solutions are
emerging in response to the multi-layered challenges that they
face.

World Water-Tech Investment Summit - Financing innovation in wastewater reuse and smart water infrastructure
London Chamber of Commerce
The Summit will draw together utilities, engineering
consultancies, technology developers and investors to identify the
greatest opportunities for growth in the global water sector,
focusing on today's most exciting areas for innovation and
investment:
- Wastewater reuse and energy recovery
- Smart, data-driven solutions for water treatment and
distribution
Experts from the UN and OECD will identify exactly where the
water market is heading in the next 5-10 years. Experienced
investors will share their insight into what makes a good
investment in the water space. International utilities will
talk openly about the challenges they face in integrating new
technologies into their networks and CEOs from water-tech start-ups
will showcase their solutions.

National Flood Forum Conference
This conference is about household flood insurance and funding
across the UK. The Statement of Principles, the agreement
between the insurance industry and Government on funding and
insurance, will expire in 2013. The insurance industry has
said that it will not continue with the agreement. What
should, or could be put in its place? This debate will focus
on some difficult realities.
The National Flood Forum conference aims to
address current issues around flood insurance, from the perspective
of flooded communities. It will look at what individuals and
communities expect and perspectives from the main players across
the UK.
The objectives of the conference are to:
- Listen to and promote the views of people at risk of flooding
on insurance and investment
- Understand the new partnership funding for schemes form a
community perspective
- Understand the perspectives of the insurance industry, the
Environment Agency and Government
- Promote networking between community groups and individuals, to
share knowledge and experiences
