2020 VISION FOR A WILDER BRITAIN
2020 Vision is an ambitious initiative that aims to
inspire people to support the wider environment and encourage
greater understanding of the value of healthy
ecosystems.
The project, run by the Wild Media Foundation, connects
photographers, videographers and sound recordists, with scientists
and conservationists, to create a bank of thought-provoking visual
and sound resources to inspire and inform the public about all that
is wild and wonderful in Britain.
There are 20 photographers involved, who are working to complete
20 projects in 20 months in 'a call to action to restore Britain's
battered ecosystems over the next decade.' The projects
include the restoration of the Caledonian pine forest, marine
nature tourism in the Inner Hebrides and the Firth of Forth,
ecosystem services delivered by mountain landscapes in the Assynt,
Cairngorms and Snowdonia National Parks, the Black Country Living
Landscape Project in the West Midlands and the restoration of
fenlands in Cambridgeshire and East Anglia.
2020 Vision launched in April 2010 and once completed the
resulting work will be exhibited across the country in a series of
outdoor road shows, demonstrating the intricate and essential
relationship between people and planet.
